Interests Lately I've been listening to: Sarah McLachlan, Counting Crows I'm currently reading: A Mothers Recompense, Edith Wharton The last movie I watched was: The War, Ken Burns' PBS video re: WWII My must-see show is: I like OLD television better than new television. I'd love to visit: To Mom and Dad's farm. I'm curious about: Too many things to count or list Topping my Wish List is: That my husband would see God (not in the death kind of way, though). Favorite Music, Artists, Genres: Frou Frou, Deep Dish, Moby, Dido, Jennifer Knapp, Tree63, Led Zeppelin, Dirty Vegas, Tom Petty, Newsboys. Favorite Books, Writers, Genres: Edith Wharton, William Faulkner, Thomas Hardy are all time standbys for good reading. Also Jane Austen, Willa Cather, Madeline L'Engle, James Joyce (not the poetry!), Sarah Orne Jewett. Favorite Movies, Actors, Genres: I admit, I love period romances. Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Room with a View are at the top of my list. Amelie, Shirley Valentine, Lemony Snickets. I also like more contemporary sets like Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind. But admittedly, on any given day I would watch Mystery Science Theater, Sideways, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe, or Napoleon Dynamite and hit replay when it's over. British humor really tickles me. One of my fave actors is Alan Rickman - he's sexy and dark and unusual (love his voice- wow!), and I also generally enjoy movies with Adam Sandler, Al Pacino and Jim Carrey. Fave actresses are Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett, Emma Thompson, Juliette Binoche. Favorite TV Shows, Actors: Good Eats with Alton Brown on the Food Network, anything on NHL, Scrubs, My Boys, Law & Order. The BBC television hit comedy (and might I add, the ORIGINAL version) The Office is magnificent, subtle, and more exquisitely painful than the American rip off. Favorite Places: My parents' farm - every inch of it. Home sweet home, or anywhere that friends and family are. Interests and Activities: Cooking, baking, and generally playing in the kitchen. I love animals, and I love my friends -- sometimes they are the same thing... I also read a LOT, exercise (pilates and treadmill and spinner), housekeep, walk/hike, bike, journal, sew, and play lone cheerleader to my hubby's local hockey leagues. I am currently learning more about organic lifestyle choices, environmentally friendly living, and gardening. I am also fascinated by languages, the study of linguistics, and how the words can impact every aspect of human civilization. Wish List: Close friends who are geographically closer, a trip to Spain, France, and Italy, some comfy chairs for our living room, a vegetable garden in the backyard, children, another dog - a smaller one - my lab mix died this past spring, to live in the country instead of town, to find one thing that I am really good at AND really enjoy...
